María Luisa Ochoa Fernández

María Luisa Ochoa Fernández is currently head of the international education programmes unit at the Consejería de Educación in the Junta de Andalucía (Spain), responsible for primary and secondary bilingual education, language assistantships, trial language programmes, like Chinese, as well as Erasmus+ and other international programmes. Previously, between 2011 and 2016, she worked as an education advisor for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports in the Embassy of Spain in China in Beijing. Originally an EFL teacher in Secondary education, teachers´ training also became part of her career when she joined the Huelva-Isla Cristina Teachers´ Training Centre as a foreign language and European programmes advisor in 2007 till her departure for China. Together with this, between 2002 and 2011 she also worked as a part time teacher at the English Philology Department at the Universidad de Huelva. Along the way, she became a Fulbrighter at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has published articles about the virtual learning of foreign languages. She has also earned awards, like the Award to the Excellence in Virtual Teaching of the Universidad de Huelva (2009) and the Third Award Rosa Regás for the production of ICT school didactic material for the teaching and learning of English based of the promotion of gender equality (2008).
